The George and Annette Bell Foundation help breath new life into wellbeing space.

The Bell Foundation were pleased to approve funding for the redevelopment of the outdoor space at Places for People (SW)’ Living Plus scheme in Bristol. The garden project was designed to provide a space for families to socialise, exercise, eat and learn together. Static exercise equipment can be used by adults and children and the educational activity boards will entertain younger children whilst learning at the same time.

The team at Fortfield Road were keen to provide space outside of the flats to meet with friends in the fresh air, to socialise, exercise and learn, which gives families within temporary housing a much more positive experience and tenancies are more likely to be sustained.

Annette Bell, Bell Foundation Founder, said:

“George and I were delighted to attend the opening of the children’s play park in Bristol, a complex that supports and gives help to improve the confidence and peace of mind that vulnerable families need to live more independently and play a positive role in their community. It was heartwarming to see the children’s faces light up upon arrival and climb on to the brightly coloured equipment in a safe and secure environment, giving great joy to the children and adults alike.

Projects like this reinforce the importance of our foundations mission: ‘to leave a long-lasting legacy by helping to create and sustain communities where people are inspired to live healthier and happier lifestyles and are given the opportunity to reach their full potential’

Places for People said:

‘We are very grateful to the Bell Foundation for transforming the old outdoor garden into new vibrant space for the families at our Fortfield road scheme. Both the residents and staff are very excited about using the new equipment as it will bring people together all year round. The project a fantastic example of our organisations coming together to support vulnerable people in the heart of the community

Lovely to welcome clients to the Inaugural George & Annette Bell Trophy Match played at Derby County; the charity event was held to raise funds for the George and Annette Bell Foundation.

Our clients enjoyed full use of the Derby County FC facilities using the player’s lounge and dressing rooms. Presentations and awards were held afterwards. George Bell OBE was in attendance, and his team were winners on the day. Some aching limbs the day after but a thoroughly enjoyable day for a very worthy cause.
